Introduction
Wedding DJ is the art and science of creating an atmosphere that will make your event a success. The key to great music and good times is having people who are excited about what you have to offer. In order for this to happen, it’s important that you know how to create a positive environment in which those around you can enjoy themselves as much as they do with their friends or family at home.
In this article, I’m going to share 5 essential qualities of a wedding DJ that you must possess if you want to be successful. These qualities are not only important for any other job in life but also when it comes to being a DJ!
1) Communication Skills:
As DJs, we need to communicate effectively with our audience so they can hear all the wonderful things we’ve done on stage. We need to be able to explain the show from beginning to end without getting bored. This means we need to be able to listen intently and understand what people are saying. It also means that we should always try our best not just to speak, but actually think through what we’re saying before speaking.
2) Performing Skills:
A Vancouver DJ needs to be comfortable performing every type of music imaginable; whether it’s pop, rock, country, jazz, or anything else in between. On the business side of things, we need to perform in front of crowds and always try our best to make them happy. It also means that our clothing and personal appearance should be something people admire, not make fun of.
3) Creativity Skills:
A great wedding DJ uses their creative side to come up with really cool mash-ups and cross-tracks. This is what gets people really excited about what’s going on and makes them want to dance all night long! These same skills can be applied to the business side of things by coming up with some really cool ideas to market yourself and your company, as well as creating some great tunes! Just make sure you follow through with your ideas.
4) Dancing Skills:
Now I know what you’re thinking. How could someone who makes a living sitting down actually have any dancing skill? The answer to that question is quite simple: people watch. Whenever you have a moment, watch the people around you and try to dance how they do. You might feel really silly at first, but it’s a really good way to see how you’re doing and adjust accordingly. Not only should you be able to keep a beat, but you should also be able to read the crowd and see what they want to dance to.
5) Community Skills:
For many DJs, being a part of the community is just as important as any of the other parts of the job. It’s important to give back to the community in one way or another. Whether it’s mentoring a new DJ, putting on a free concert every once in a while, or even creating a charity CD to help out hospitals and shelters. Having a good relationship with the community you work in will keep your business thriving for years to come.
As you can see, being a wedding DJ requires more than just having the right music and some technical know-how. It takes enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication and a genuine love for entertaining people. If you have these qualities and are dedicated to the craft of DJing, then I believe anything is possible!
