Top Vancouver DJ Trends 2022 | Ultimate Guide

When it comes to planning your big event, there are a lot of things to consider. One of the most important decisions you’ll make is who will be playing music for your guests. To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of the top Vancouver DJ trends for 2022.
Here are some of the top Vancouver DJ trends to watch out for in the coming year:
1. Electro Swing with Psychedelic Undertones
This style will be all the rage for any event that involves dancing, but especially house parties. Imagine an old-school set by the godfather of Electro, Sven Väth, with a little bit of a trippy feel to it. The perfect example would be the track “I Love You” by the talented Australian DJ/Producer, Galantis. This style is a nice change of pace from all the usual upbeat swing tunes that play during the day.
2. Psychedelic Dance with a Flair for House
A little less edgy than the previous style, but just as groovy, is the Psychedelic house style. Think about how the Beatles got their name, you’re essentially dancing to the music of The Yellow Submarine. The emphasis is less on the chords of the song, and more on the feeling of the song. The trippy effects and instruments are much more common, and the beat will be slower, but more steady. The perfect example of this style would be the track “Sun Comes Out” by the Dutch DJ, Martin Garrix. This style is sure to be a hit at any event that has a large dance floor, or even just a few dozen people.
3. Future House with a Touch of Electro
This is a bit of a strange one on our list. Future House is essentially the combination of Future Funk and Dance. It fuses the energetic grooves of the former with the sparkling melodies and intricate chord progressions of the latter. Think about the hit “Future Funk” by the Swedish House Mafia. You get the impression that there are a lot of different flavors of house music, and this is just one of the many that can be crafted. The future is bright for this style.
4. Chill Hop with a Heavy Thud
Another slower tempo, yet the still uplifting style of dance music. Think of this one as an “upbeat” version of Country. The track “Feet and Knuckles” by Australian artist, Troy Carter, is a perfect example. This style generally works well at corporate events, rather than parties.
5. Dance Hall with a Strong Showmanship
Dance Hall is a great example of a “one-hit wonder”. This style has one artist that everyone is excited about, and then everyone plays that artist as loud and as long as the artist wants. Think of artists like the German DJ, David Guetta, or the aforementioned Troy Carter. The catch is, generally these artists only have one truly great song, and then they milk it for as long as they can. The unfortunate thing for these artists is, they’re not very good. The public has a short memory, though, and will soon forget about this one-hit wonder.
Whether you’re planning a wedding or birthday party, or just looking to get your groove on, these trends will help you pick the perfect kind of music to make your next event the talk of the town.
